Imagine seduction, cerebral, and silly braided into one fabric; you would end up with something like this.

A Beautiful Burlesque Disaster

My falsies weren’t cooperating, and I was already late! Maybe it was my nerves, because I was so proud of pushing myself to go ahead and at least show up. Putting on a show was a slightly different story. “When I’m ready,” I tend to think and pour out reasoning from there: after these countless dance classes, when my work schedule clears up, when I get this new outfit, after I get my hair done. A bunch of excuses I’ve made before. This time though, I told myself to go for it because what else is there? Not doing it, then regret? So, with no choreography, a cute minimalist costume, some dropped curls, and potential eye-irritation from malfunctioning lashes and glue, I hit the stage! And it was still a flop. Not because I embarrassed myself, I actually got some great feedback but because the footage was shot and useless…but I used it anyway. So, enjoy the highlights of a chaotic good night.

Round 2: The Redemption

A few things started off the same: I didn’t wear lashes and I arrived to the venue late but I was still on time for my performance. What I learned here. Leave two hours before. Even though the city I perform in is only a 30-minute drive, one hour doesn’t cut it. There’s entirely too much construction and redirected traffic and packed parking to think an hour is enough allotted time to show up and check-in. It’s best to be early, or even early-early. However, I managed to get better footage of my stage performance and I’m surely blossoming as a performer!
